Cold laser therapy or low-intensity laser therapy in our Paris chiropractic office

Cold laser therapy is a low-intensity laser therapy that stimulates healing while using low levels of light.

Cold laser therapy is also known as: low-level laser therapy (LLLT), low-power laser therapy (LPLT), gentle laser biostimulation, or photobiomodulation

How does the cold laser work ?

During a cold laser treatment, different wavelengths and low-level light outputs are applied directly to a targeted area. The body tissue then absorbs the light. The red and near-infrared light triggers a reaction, and the damaged cells respond with a physiological reaction that promotes regeneration.

Superficial tissue is generally treated with wavelengths between 600 and 700 nanometers (nm). For deeper penetration, wavelengths between 780 and 950 nm are used.

Although you will feel the laser device touching your skin, the procedure is painless and non-invasive. There will be no sound, and you will not feel any vibration or heat. Each treatment typically takes only a few minutes.

For what problems is the cold laser used ?

The main uses of cold laser therapy are tissue repair and the relief of pain and inflammation:

Minor injuries and sprains

  • ligament sprains
  • tendonitis
  • bursitis
  • tennis elbow
  • neck pain
  • lower back pain
  • knee pain
  • pain associated with muscle spasms
  • Reduce inflammation and promote healing of joints and soft tissues.

Inflammation

Dentists use cold lasers to treat inflamed tissues in the mouth and to heal ulcers. Cold lasers can also be used to treat inflammation caused by rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and other chronic autoimmune diseases.

Aches and pains

Cold laser therapy can also be used to help people suffering from acute or chronic pain caused by conditions such as fibromyalgia and carpal tunnel syndrome, headaches, neuralgia (Arnold’s neuralgia, cervicobrachial neuralgia, etc.)

Acupuncture

Low-intensity laser beams can stimulate your acupuncture points in the same way as needles, but without piercing your skin.

Neurological

Researchers have found applications for cold lasers to treat symptoms or stimulate the functioning of the nervous system in certain diseases and conditions, including:

Head injuries and concussions (TBI),
spinal cord injury,
Alzheimer’s disease
, Parkinson’s disease
